JAYMYTH™ is a Hip Hop MC from Manhattan, NY. The name comes from a combination of two separate aspects, "Jay" is short for his name, which is what his friends call him and "Myth" was the word he chose to describe the negative response he received from his friends when he told them that he wanted to Rap. Such responses like "He could never make it as a rapper", "He wasn't born to rap", "It's a waste of time", they laughed at him, etc., basically any negative remark you could think of. His theory was that he had to prove everybody wrong, prove that the idea of people thinking that he wasn't going to be successful as a Hip Hop artist was nothing but a "Myth". |
JAYMYTH™ has always been passionate about Hip Hop music, but decided to give it a try as an artist after his grandmother passed away in April 2007. He used to write down lyrics but never took it serious, until he decided to work on some tracks in June 2007 in his cousin's studio. He focuses on lyrical content which he feels is his main strength and the most important aspect of Hip Hop. JAYMYTH™ recently released his first project ever which is a Mix Tape entitled "The Buzz Worthy Mix Tape: Part 1". (Which is available for free download.) The purpose of the Mix Tape is to create a Buzz, while he focuses mostly on old school beats from the 90's. He believes that as a new Hip Hop artist, it is important to understand the craft from the 90's; also known as the golden era of Hip Hop, before he comes up with his own style and craft. The Mix Tape basically consists of his version of certain classics and some of the most modern hits, it will also include one original track. JAYMYTH™ plans to continue performing live after he completes "The Buzz Worthy Mix Tape: Part 1". He plans to use the Mix Tape to network with DJ's, Artists, Promoters, Etc. until he gets better and develops his craft in the studio and on stage.
